How would you deal with a friend’s complete lack of parental responsibility?
In short, we have ‘friends’ that expect someone else to keep an eye on their kids.
If we get together as a group, and their 2 yr old wanders off – mom will expect someone else to know she went. If their 4 yr old breaks something, parents will ask openly why no one stopped him.
At co-ed softball games, both parents play and never line up anyone to watch the kids, so the toddlers run around the ball park unsupervised. I’d love to play ball too, but since my husband plays, I sit out because of our kids…and usually end up herding their kids too because no one else is. I stayed home from a ball game once, and dad dropped off his kids without warning. I didn’t know if the kids had been fed, no diapers, no toys… Nothing! I took the kids that time because I felt bad for them…it’s not their fault their parents are exceptionally flaky. (I only allowed this once, now I make sure I’m not conveniently available) Our group as a whole is at a complete loss of what to do.
Suggestions??

What kind of medical emergency would it take for a teen not to have parental notification before an abortion?
I’m doing a debate and our topic is:
Should minors be required to have parental notification before an abortion, except in the case of a medical emergency?
What type of medical emergency? I would love to see any research on it (i.e. websites, articles, books?)
What would you do regarding your niece giving up parental rights to her son?
I have a niece that decided about 2 years ago that she is lesbian (and I have nothing against this) but she has a lover that is in the Army and now she is going to give up her parental rights to her 11 year old son so that her lover can get the military benefits of having a kid. To top this all off, his grandparents raised him for the majority of his life and now she will no longer even let them see or talk to him. I personally think that if she is willing to give up her rights, the grandparents should be the ones that file for the adoption but they are afraid that it will hurt their grandson. Would you push the grandparents into fighting for custody knowing that if anything ever happened in the relationship between my niece and her lover that their grandson could be permenantly removed from the family? My sister is the grandparent and they were informed by lawyer yesterday that there really isn’t any grandparents rights and the they would have an excellent chance for custody.
Just an FYI, my niece basically did not raise her son for the first 9 years of his life anyway, the grandparents did. Only for the past 2 years has she taken an interest in his life. And this is my family, my flesh and blood here, I feel that it is my business.
Would many american woman father to terminate parental rights and get no child support in this case?
Would many American mothers do this?
Would many American mothers allow the father to terminate parental rights and get no child support, if he files a $30,000 lawsuit to become the primary custodian, and you many eventually have to pay him child support? The trial court last up to two years or more.
